Like a lot of guys, Tim found himself feeling really comfortable in his relationship. Too comfortable, even. He took his girlfriend for granted. He would make plans with her, then see one of his friends and totally blow off the date that he had made with the woman he was dating. Of course, he always seemed to find a way to make it up to her. That is, until he did it one time too many and his girlfriend finally had enough and she ended the relationship.
Tim was a little bit cocky, still. He figured all he had to do was to buy her a few gifts, say a few sappy words and she'd take him back. He had gone through this a few times before and he figured that he'd be able to do it again. Nope, he was wrong. No gift, no sappy speech about how sorry he was would do the trick. Things got worse. Tim took the rejection to heart and it totally ruined his confidence.
